A Facebook business page is another piece of internet real estate for your small business and an additional mode of communication with your customers.
Let’s look closer at WHY you should have a Facebook business page, then I’ll share some tips to help your page be extra awesome.
Why Have a Facebook Business Page?
Did you know that counting from 1 to 1 billion would take you 95 years? Triple that and you’d approach the number of monthly active users on Facebook as of April 2024. 3.07 billion. That’s almost 38% of the world’s population.
Even the teensiest, tiniest fraction of this number is a solid amount of potential customers for your business!
This means that for many businesses:
- A Facebook presence is a must for SEO and brand health
- Facebook is a valuable marketing opportunity and a worthy recipient of some of your marketing budget
- You should invest some quality time making your Facebook business page professional

Facebook Business Page Tips
Here are some Facebook business page tips to help you do it right:
1. DO create a Facebook Business Page NOT a personal profile for your business.
While personal profiles posts do show up more on newsfeeds, they are a big no-no. Here’s why:
- You will get shut down—it’s just a matter of when. Facebook takes “personal” seriously and intends to keep personal profiles out of the hands of business.
- With a personal profile, you’re limited to 5,000 “friends”—a deal breaker when your business takes off.
- Business pages have analytics and the ability to advertise, both of which are likely to be crucial at some point.
- You can eventually open and link a private business Facebook Group (LOTS of excellent potential here!)
2. You have seconds to convey the quality and spirit of your brand and capture a visitor’s attention, so you DO want to invest in professionally branded profile and cover pictures.
Do NOT use ones that are quickly thrown together with low quality images.
It’s also important that your Facebook cover photo includes some key info and be mobile friendly, so it doesn’t look funky on tablets and mobile phones.
3. DO treat your Business Page as a secondary website, NOT as a task you do only when you have time.
Your Facebook Business Page may show up before your website in a Google search, so it can often be the first point of contact with your customer.
For this reason, you want it to be professional and complete—there are now a lot of sections to fill out. And, don’t let that Call to Action button go to waste!

4. DO pay attention to your page’s security settings so you aren’t open for a takeover by hackers.
Yes, even your Facebook business page can get hacked.
Infiltrators are usually from another country and their typical tactic is to flood your page with Likes, which decreases the visibility of your posts to your authentic fans. They may even demand ransom—requesting payment for not reporting your posts to the Facebook Police, which puts your page at risk of being shut down.
You can protect yourself by through your security settings. And, NEVER answer any private message claiming that your page is in violation!
5. DO post relevant and unique content (with gorgeous branded graphics, of course) a minimum of a couple of times a week.
Solve your followers’ problems. Stimulate their imagination. Motivate them. And, most importantly, interact with them.
Thank every single one of them for liking and interacting with your Facebook Business Page. Don’t waste a single opportunity to bond with a customer!
6. Free yourself by making use of Facebook’s post scheduler.
Consistency in posting is key. Rather than burden yourself with manually posting several times a week, use Facebook’s post scheduler.
Not only do they free you up, but they help keep your business blog posts and other timeless content alive for as long as you want to.
(While there are several good third-party schedulers, we only recommend these if you are running full blown social campaigns over different platforms as Facebook’s algorithms isn’t a big fan.)
